Circling high among the clouds, the king of eagles Thorondor,
he’s watching the valleys deep down, there lies the ruins of a secret town.
Diving closer, mourns what he sees, once it was great, but now a waste,
all destroyed by forces mean, not much is left of Gondolin.

Relationship and blood, friendship and oath,
is not a guarantee for the unseen.
It was the rash actions of friends from the past,
which brought destruction to Gondolin.

Attackers came, surrounded town. Elves fought bravely, but in vain.
They had been hidden for many years, time had now come, confirming their fears.

All the things in this world, must sooner or later die.
Even emeralds looses their sheen, farewell you city of Gondolin.
